Built on a Simple Belief
Spencer Jones grew up in a family that has been building in Utah for six generations. He learned the trade from the ground up, including his start at Layton Construction, and earned a degree in Construction Management from Utah Valley University before founding Velocity Builders.
He started the company on one belief: owners deserve a founder's attention on every project, not a handoff to a junior team. That approach grew fast. By 2008, Velocity was one of the largest-volume builders south of Utah County.
One project captures the story well. As a young man, Spencer worked as a laborer on the first remodel of the Best Western in Cedar City. Two decades later, he led Velocity Builders through a complete remodel of the same hotel, down to the exterior walls.
Today our team builds hotels, restaurants, civic buildings, offices, medical clinics, and housing across Southern Utah, from our offices in Cedar City and St. George.

Spencer has built and held his own commercial properties for more than 20 years. He does not build to sell. That perspective shapes every recommendation we make on materials, systems, and finishes. We know the difference between what looks good on opening day and what holds up for the next twenty years, and we build to last.

Straight, square, and plumb are not jargon to us. No framing is covered and no rough-in is closed until it has been reviewed and approved. We perform our own inspections daily.

We Live Where We Build.
Our team does not fly in for your project and leave at closeout. We live in Cedar City and St. George, we work with the same local subcontractors year after year, and we will still be here when you need us after your doors open.
Our leaders also serve the communities we build in. Spencer has served as a Governor-appointed board member of the Utah Department of Water Resources, Vice Chair of the Central Iron County Water Conservancy District, a board member of Iron County Economic Development, president of the Iron County Building Industry Association, and an adjunct professor of Construction Management at Southern Utah University. Our general counsel served on the Cedar City Council from 2020 to 2025.
